Clipper
Round the World Yacht Race · Ten identical
yachts are currently battling it out over 35,000 grueling ocean miles and for
the first time ever Victoria B.C. is part of the excitement. The Victoria, Canada
yacht is the first and only Canadian entry in the Clipper Round the World Yacht
Race which sees ten nations going head-to-head in an 11 month course around the
globe. The eyes of the yachting world will soon be on Victoria as we host
this world-class event at the Inner Harbour from May 6th to 14th. Bastion

and eclectic European-style "Artisans Showcase and Open-Air Marketplace,"
with vendors selling original paintings & prints, stained glass, multi-media
jewelry, woodworks, pottery, herbal soaps, clothing and accessories. Many artisans
demonstrate their work on site. Visitors also enjoy entertainment with busking
musicians and traveling entertainers. Held at the original site of the
Hudson's Bay Company's Fort of Victoria, historic Bastion Square stretches from
the 1100 block of Government St. to the foot of Wharf St. overlooking the Inner
Harbour and is home to the Maritime Museum of British Columbia.

Day at the Royal BC Museum · May
6th, 2006 - The Royal BC Museum and Royal Astronomical Society of Canada team
up to present a full day of family-oriented space activities. Activities range
from lectures on the asteroid, current topics in astronomy and telescope mirror-grinding
demonstrations to displays of telescopes and real space meteorites, telescope
views of sunspot activity and a variety of children's programs. Visitors
also have the opportunity to talk to professional astronomers about the meaning
of the universe, and to learn how amateur astronomers can observe space with regular
binoculars and telescopes. Multimedia presentations take visitors on a journey
through the solar system, and offer a special look at Canada's presence in space.

18th - 22nd, 2006 - Victoria's rich history as a commercial and naval port, the
oldest city in Western Canada and the provincial capital is reflected in its wealth
of historic buildings and heritage institutions. Local museums want to show you
something you've never seen before! Originally designated in 1977 by UNESCO,
International Museum Day is celebrated the world over to raise awareness of the
vital role museums play in society. Although International Museum Day is officially

Ensemble presents Music from Quebec ·
May 19, 2006 - Aventa Ensemble, founded in 2003, is a professional ensemble
promoting Canadian works and new works from the international repertoire. Aventa
is comprised of approximately fifteen musicians, which are drawn from the ranks
of the Victoria Symphony, University of Victoria and Victoria Conservatory of
Music as well as freelance players. For our final concert of our season
we are delighted to welcome Gilles Tremblay back to Victoria. Louis Bessette,
acclaimed Quebec pianist, will perform Tremblay's piano concerto, Envoi and solo

Kids has raised $4.7 million to help children with disabilities attend Easter
